What’s happening this week @ SMRUC

Greetings of hot days and stormy evenings, of sunshine and rain, of all of Creation’s wonders,

This week our worship focus is on “Kindness” as we continue our exploration of the Fruits of the Spirits.  As I looked for quotes on kindness one that stood out for me was from Jewel’s song, Hands.  “In the end only kindness matters.”  You can view her video for the song here:

I was also intrigued by Kacie Kinzer’s social experiment where she placed cardboard robots (who could only navigate in a straight line and were equipped with a destination on an attached flag) around New York City to see what would happen.  The results surprised her and maybe they’ll surprise you as well!

We’ll be talking about acts of kindness and what keeps us from engaging with others in kind ways.  If “in the end, only kindness matters” how can we live that out as a people of faith?  As we look at ways to spread kindness in the world you may want to check out www.kindspring.org for ideas and their wonderful Smile cards.

We’d welcome you to join the conversation about kindness on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SMRUC/ and continue the conversation in our Sunday morning worship.

Please feel free to bring a coffee with you to enjoy and join us for summer worship in our air-conditioned Journey worship space, this Sunday at 10:15am.  And for those who are on the Pokemon Go hunt, you never know what you may discover here!

Blessings,

Debbie (and Phil who is currently on vacation)
