Dear Friends of the Risen One!

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand

And Eternity in an hour “  ~ WILLIAM BLAKE, Auguries of Innocence

This week marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Our online worship focuses on God’s covenant with all of creation.

Celebrating Earth Day as a worshipping community reminds us of the enduring call to eco-justice—“we’re all in the same boat now!”   In William Blake’s poem, written some 200 years ago, we see how we are inescapably connected with all creation. This time of pandemic provides us with an extra opportunity to meditate on this. For those of us that have the inconvenience/privilege to self-isolate, reflect on this: “You are not alone.” For those who are living in fear and anxiety, “You are not alone.”  For those whose voice is not heard, “You are not alone.”

Grace and peace,

Phil

Note:

The garden group will once again hold its native prairie plant sale. Orders are due by  May 10th  with pickup in June.

This year we will be doing things a bit differently with our sale. Orders will all be online via eTransfer or Cheque (eTransfer preferred). And pickup will include safety measures like curbside pickup or delivery. We are again partnering with Prairie Originals for our plants, and proceeds of the sale will go to the maintenance of the SMRUC garden.

We hope this will give you something beautiful to look forward to with an eye toward the hope that nature brings with new beginnings. Gardening is not only a hopeful response to the pandemic, you are also supporting a local business – something that will be important as we move to recovery.
