This week at SMRUC

Greetings of warm summer breezes, cooling showers, and Canada Day celebrations!

Over and over today I’ve had the Black Eyed Peas song “Where is the Love?” going round and round my head

“Whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading us away from unity
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feelin’ down
There’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feelin’ under
Gotta keep my faith alive ’til love is found
Now ask yourself
Where is the love?”

“Love” is the Fruits of the Spirit(Galatians 5.22-23) that were are focusing on this week in our Summer Worship series.

What does it mean to love as faith-ful people? How do we spread a message of love in a world that can sometimes seem filled with animosity? Is the love we share with family and friends different from that we offer to strangers?

Every week we will have a link to some thematic video or clip that those away from church can watch and comment on.

This week Hannah Brencher talks about the Love Letters she writes to strangers. You can find it at this link or on the TED talks website.  Feel free to add your own comments on what you think after watching it.

During the summer months we don’t have a coffee time per se but you are welcome to bring your own with you.

We look forward to seeing you at 10:15 am in the Journey space for our Summer Oasis Worship!

Blessings,
Debbie & Philip (who is on vacation for the month of July. We wish him a restful, restorative, renewing time with family and friends!)
