Weekly E-mail

Sunday, August 16
Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Greetings in the Name of the Risen One!
“Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est (Where true charity is, there is God.)”
I hope to see you this Sunday for our 2nd (possibly annual) “Thin Places Worship.” Thin but not shallow. We often talk about God being near us, are there ways to help us experience that?
We will gather as one in the Junction @ 10:15 and then disperse to different options:
1) The garden, where you will be asked to intentionally meditate on the flora and fauna; on life cycles; on life’s journey; on the rhythm and music of life; all while members of the Journey Band offer background music (for some this will be an opportunity to take and ask questions about this garden and its history).
2) The next option is “Godly Play.” It will continue as the main curriculum for the Rainbow Youth Stream. For those interested in experiencing this mode of worship, Aimee Patterson— who has had attend workshops and has lead this worship before— will be offering this in the Tree of Life Sanctuary.
3) The next option is to stay in the Junction. This is worship through dialogue and action. Many of you are already aware of the plight of the Shoal Lake 40 First Nation and their lack of an all-weather access road to bring much needed supplies. Many congregations have already joined their voices of support (churchesforfreedomroad.ca). We might not have our electric sign up yet, but maybe there is somethings we can do. For this form of dialogical worship it may be good if you come already having already read or listened to some of this story.
4) The last options are in the Journey Sanctuary. Art from around the church will be out to enjoy as well as some books and some beanbag chairs! In the middle will be a Labyrinth Walk. This ancient spiritual practice incorporates your body in your prayer and meditation.
THEN At 11 am, wherever you are, we ask that you make your way to the Garden for its blessing service.
Worship starts at 10:15 and all are welcome! And it’s BYOC/T&S (you know, bring your own coffee or tea and snacks!)
We look forward to seeing you!
Shalom, Salaam, Shanti, Béke, Peace,
