It’s been almost three years since collage-à-trois last graced the stage of the Fly and Camel Café, and we just had to have them back. Since they were last with us, Shannon, Jocelyn and Rayannah have continued to establish themselves in the music scene here in Winnipeg and beyond. Shannon Kristjanson is one of the go-to saxophone and flute players in the city; she is a regular with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and with Papa Mambo, among others. Guitarist Jocelyn Gould fronted her own band at the Winnipeg Jazz Festival and for a Nu-Sounds Concert at the Park Theatre last spring. Singer and loop pedalist Rayannah Chartier-Kroeker will be returning to Winnipeg after shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal during the month of October. In September, she was chosen to represent Western Canada at the prestigious Festival International de la Chanson in Granby, Québec in 2016.

A collage-à-trois show is an eclectic experience. Centred on their voices, their imaginative arrangements feature combinations of guitar, pedals, percussion and flute. From a cappella melodies to dense vamps with looped layers, the result is diverse and impossible to categorize, except to say that it’s all good.
