The Fly and Camel Café presents

Jayme Giesbrecht

with Jonathan Alexiuk (piano)

Jayme Giesbrecht first took to the stage 20 years ago, at the age of 11. Springing from her vocal roots in a small church in Winkler, Jayme has broadened her repertoire from traditional gospel spirituals and hymns, to the soul classics of Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and Tina Turner. Through collaborations with jazz pianist Jonathan Alexiuk and bluesman JP Lepage, Jayme was able to record and release her debut album To Keep You From Falling in 2016, which was sponsored by Golden West. Highlights in the past year have been collaborating with Big Dave McLean (Order of Canada) on multiple occasions, and performing as a guest artist with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, which she will do again this December. Another album is currently in the works, as Jayme continues to grow into her own musical style.

All proceeds from this edition of the Fly and Camel Café will be donated to Hospitality House Refugee Ministry https://www.hhrmwpg.org/

which continues to do vital and outstanding work with Winnipeg’s

SMRUC Emergency Food Box

Did you know that SMRUC has an emergency food box located in the Junction space? It is for use by those people who might walk in needing an emergency supply of food prior to the regular Food Bank day. It is sorted and some may be sent to West Broadway as well. Sometimes our box gets very low on supplies. Please bring non-perishable food whenever you can to keep it full. [ Items like tuna, soup, beans, peanut butter etc. ]
